Host A Training
A unique asset to working with LifeWays is that we can come to YOU for a Fundamentals Retreat or Full Certificate Training! If you are interested, consider the following criteria and when you are ready, contact our Administrator to make an appointment.
What is the difference between the Fundamentals Retreat
and the Full Certificate Training?

The Fundamentals is a 5-day long in person retreat that gives you a “taste” of what the training offers in depth. It provides an introduction to LifeWays foundational principles, child development, the Living Arts, and practical application of this content; as well as movement, handwork and singing. Participants very often begin by attending the Fundamentals Retreat and sign up for a Full Certificate Training right after. Similarly, hosting locations often begin by holding a Fundamentals Retreat for a year (or two), followed by a year of Full Certificate Training.
The Full Certificate Training is a year-long program that includes 28 days of in-person content and required integration of the content through a variety of projects completed in between sessions with mentor support. The curriculum is a deep dive into human growth & development, program curriculum, and the Living Arts as well as music, movement, handwork, puppetry, festivals and more.

Do you have a location to host the Retreat/Training?
The location needs to have spaces available for movement exercises, handwork classes, watercolor painting and a space for meals to be shared, if possible, set up away from the primary teaching/learning space. In the Full Training, space is also needed for Home Health Care (often with space to lie down and spread out for treatments, foot baths, etc.), nap time demonstrations, and simple woodworking (this has been done outdoors on picnic benches even).
A rental fee of $150 maximum per day may be paid, but the location is also often offered as a donation to LifeWays.
Do you know which format and have some dates ready for proposal?
The Fundamentals Retreat takes place over five full days, 8:30 am- 6 pm. Typically, this occurs Monday- Friday, but some locations opt to use a weekend as part of the five days.
For the Full Certificate Training, we are currently offering four different formats, all with 28 Days of Content:
-
Multiple Sessions: Meeting August through June for two Saturdays a month, with three 3-day retreats to replace some of those Saturdays.

-
Two Sessions: Meeting for two 15-day sessions over two summers, with a Sunday break at the middle of each session (this accounts for those additional days). This option may include 1-2 zoom meetings throughout the year to maintain connection.

-
Four Sessions: Meeting for four sessions of 7 days each, spread throughout one full calendar year.

-
Four Sessions: Meeting for two 8-day sessions in the summers (as bookends to the full-year) with 12 days arranged according to need over the Fall, Winter, & Spring

Do you feel there is enough demand?

Fourteen students is our minimum for Fundamentals Retreats, and Twelve students is our minimum for Full Certificate Trainings. The final call for a Retreat/Training to happen is 6 weeks prior to the first session date.
Is there someone(s) interested in the Students Services Coordinator position?

The Student Services Coordinator manages the local, “on the ground” promotions, coordination of cook and specialty teachers, and serves as the primary point of contact for Students during enrollment and the Training. It is a paid position and well-supported by our organization with an online course to help guide the way, and regular meetings with our Training Team.
An SSC is generally someone who is enthusiastic, organized and a self-initiator (not afraid to really put themselves "out there" to promote the training and follow up directly with phone calls, etc.). Sometimes the role is held by two people, one assisting with simple administrative tasks
